WACAI is so thrilled to have such a wonderful line up of talented entertainers grace our stage! Read on to learn about some of our performers as well as get a sneak peak some of the special silent auction items for sale!

Mudzidzi ("learner" in Shona) is a mbira ensemble from Eugene, Oregon. They play in a variety of tunings and their repertoire consists of classic Shona music. They have played together for many years and have been privileged to study under many mbira masters from Zimbabwe and North America. Their current Zimbabwean teacher and band member is Chakaipa Mhembere; he has toured the world playing in Thomas Mapfumo's band, and we are blessed to have his depth and virtuosity added to our sound and spirit. Other group members include Nel Applegate, Sumá Elan, Karen Kline, Jeff Muiderman, Wanda Walker and Janis Weeks.

Cecil & Vinegar is an upbeat Bluegrass Trio featuring Jonna ThrelkeldJordan Cogburn and Seth Kimmel on stand up bass, guitar, and banjo.

Torrey Newhart & Joshua Hettwer Jazz Duo bring us acoustic jazz with the cool sounds of keyboard and saxophone.

WACAI's Performance Group-Join Alseny, Andrea & Papa Yansane of West African Cultural Arts Institute for a performance that exudes the joy and exuberance of Guinean culture through drum and dance! This family of three with over sixty years of collective experience is passionate about sharing this art-form with their audiences and teaching their students all aspects of the Guinean cultural arts. Throughout the show audience members are invited to join in the fun with a facilitated audience participation segment which helps folks to sing and dance Guinea style.

Finish out the night with a bang by letting loose during the Drum & Dance Jam where everyone is encouraged to experience the joy and passion for Guinean culture first hand through guided audience participation!
